They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I am not an expert, I am not a nutritionist, so I can’t confirm this, but what I can tell you is that when I travel or even on a lazy Sunday in my hometown, what makes me the happiest is a big fancy and delicious breakfast, served by friendly stuff and in an amazing atmosphere that will inspire me throughout the day.
Since I go out to have breakfast almost every weekend with friends or family, I thought I should share with you my favourite places to have breakfast if you are visiting my hometown, Timisoara.
Neața Omlette Bistro – str vasile Alecsandri nr 2
Neața Omlette Bistro is in between Union Squre and Opera Square, basically in the centre of the city. It is a place dedicated only to breakfast, as the name of it suggests, neața means good morning and it is open from Monday until Friday from 8am to 6pm and in the weekend it opens at 9am.
They have quite a big selection of breakfasts in the menu, but unfortunately all of them contain eggs, so if you are vegan or plant-based probably this place will not be your best option.
Garage Cafe – str Palanca nr 2
Whenever I go to this place it gives me good vibes. To be honest, it’s one of my favourite places to go and just enjoy a cup of coffee in the afternoon whenever I have a couple of hours free.
This place is in the Union Square and it has a backyard where you can enjoy your meal without the noise created by the busy Square but also away from the curious eyes of the people passing by.
The menu here doesn’t have a wide selection of breakfasts, but they have also sandwiches and delicious desserts. All the pastry, bread and desserts are made in their bakery so they are fresh and very tasty. My favourite things to eat here are the Croque Monsieur and the white chocolate and raspberry tart.
Fabrika – Iulius Mall
Fabrika is not only for breakfast, they are open during lunch time and dinner time, but personally I enjoy this place only in the morning. Because this restaurant is located in the mall, it makes it the perfect destination to go on a Sunday morning when you are maybe planning on doing a little bit of shopping or even window shopping if it is something that you enjoy, like me.
They don’t have a big selection in the breakfast area, but they have the best croissants in the city, in my opinion and also they cane make you whatever combination of fresh fruit/veggie juice you want. If you want to set up your game, try the chocolate croissant, it tastes like heaven!
